Guide
Good to know
Time your visit at low tide
Low tide exposes tide pools with abundant sea life and stretches the sandy beach considerably farther.
Wear waterproof boots
The trail becomes ankle-deep mud in the second half, especially the final third which forms a drainage trench.
Get a Makah Recreation permit
Day hiking requires a $20 Makah permit in addition to any National Park permits for overnight stays.
Arrive early for parking
The parking lot is relatively small and fills early, with overflow parking available 0.6 miles away for $20 per night.
